Emma Inman is an African American artist living and working in Alcobaça, Portugal. She’s passionate about exploring the personality and story of people through portraits, both in clay and on canvas. Especially focused on people across the African diaspora, her goal is to portray the human experience of black and brown people who carry with them both deep scars and the abiding strength of their ancestors.

Her work is brimming with life and meaning, featuring the pain, joy, exhilaration, sadness, humor, and pride that makes each of her subject’s stories uniquely their own.

Emma’s work is in private collections in the United States and Europe. She welcomes discussions with art lovers who are interested in work on this site, or in commissions.
